The two friends met online and shared music. Then in 2007, they met face-to-face at the Trance Energy 2007 festival. Their first taste of widespread notoriety came upon releasing the track Mustang that same year.

The song was played by various high profile DJs including Armin van Buuren, Tiesto and Sander van Doorn. W&W hit the number 36 spot on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list in 2011. That same year the duo released their debut studio album Impact under Armin van Buuren’s Armada Music label.

The following year they established a record label called Mainstage Music, which was a sub-label of Armada Music. Not long after, the duo started to transition from trance to big room. Their first non-trance single Lift Off reached the number 82 spot on the Dutch Top 100 Singles chart.

The song caught the attention of fellow Dutch musician Hardwell, which led to them releasing two singles on his record label Revealed Recordings.

One of the singles, titled The Code, was a hit on Beatport and reached the number 1 spot. On July 27, 2013, W&W performed on the main stage at the Tomorrowland Festival in Belgium.

Their track Bigfoot, which first saw the light of day in 2014, became one of the duo’s biggest singles. They also hit the UK charts for the first time that year after Hardwell released a single they co-produced, titled Everybody is in the Place.

The group has since released many singles and been nominated for multiple IDMA Awards as well an NRJ Music Awards. As of June 2018, they have published more than 25 remixes and 65 singles since entering the music industry.

W&W also host a radio show under the Mainstage Music moniker. Apart from that, they have been guest hosts on Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance radio show.

The pair has performed at multiple festivals over the years including Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland, Trance Energy Festival and TomorrowWorld.

W&W’s studio is mostly software based. They rely on the Ableton DAW which hosts various software instruments such as the Arturia Minimoog Mini V, Sonic Academy Kick and Massive.

Their effects plug-ins collection has some nice units such as Xfer Records LFOTool, ArtsAcoustic Reverb, Sugar Bytes Effectrix, FabFilter Saturn as well as the Ohm Force OhmBoyz delay unit.

Pioneer hardware dominates their live setup with units such as the DJM-2000NXS and DJM-900 Nexus mixer. They own an M-Audio Axiom 49 MIDI keyboard controller for entering MIDI data into their DAW. Their audio monitoring is handled by a pair of Genelec 8050A studio monitors.

Headphones that that group likes to use include a pair of Sennheiser HD 25-1 II as well V-Moda Crossfade M-100. Their setup runs on the macOS operating system.
