Armin van Buuren is by far one of the most popular names in trance music. The Dutch record producer and DJ has been ranked the top DJ by DJ Mag five times, which is a record. He hosts a weekly radio shows called A State of Trance which has a global audience of over 37 million people.
Armin released his first EP in 1996 and achieved early success after releasing a compilation album titled A State of Trance. He has since performed at numerous sold-out festivals and received a large number of accolades from various dance music organizations.
He has released 6 studio albums to date. His most successful singles include This Is What It Feels Like, Another You and In and Out of Love. This Is What It Feels Like was nominated in the Best Dance Recording category at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. He’s part owner of the Armada Music record label which he founded with Maykel Piron and David Lewis in 2003.
No other artist has had more entries on the United States Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart than Armin. He has had 21 projects enter that chart. He was also appointed Officer of the Order of Orange Nassau for his contribution to music. The honor is given to everyone that’s considered to have made significant contributions towards society in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Armin is an avid user of hardware when producing his music. He uses a Native Instrument Maschine, M-Audio Keystation 88 MIDI controller, Novation Launch Control XL, Akai Professional APC40, Ableton Push, Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S49 keyboard and the Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor to mention a few.
He uses various software plugins too such as Spectrasonics Omnisphere, FabFilter Twin, reFX Nexus 2, u-he Zebra, Lennar Digital Sylenth1, Native Instruments Massive and Synapse Audio Dune to mention a few. His DAWs of choice include Ableton Live and Apple Logic.
