Diplo has become somewhat of a super producer in recent years. He has worked with many top musicians over the past few years and he has amassed great success. The American DJ, producer, and songwriter got his big break after producing M.I.A.’s hit single Paper Planes, which ended up being a major hit in the US and the UK. The single went on to sell more than 4.5 million copies worldwide.
He has since collaborated with artists such as Usher, Britney Spears, Chris Brown and Justin Beiber to name a few. He has released group projects with Major Lazer which is a group that was formed by Diplo and Switch but now comprises of Jillionaire, Walshy Fire and Diplo after Switch’s departure.
Another close collaborator of his is Skrillex with whom he released a project in 2015 under the name Jack Ü. Diplo is also the founder of a record label called Mad Decent, which was created in 2005. He’s an 8-time Grammy Award nominee and a 2-time winner.
His most successful singles/collaborations to date include Paper Planes, Too Close which he features Alex Clare and Elastic Heart which features Sia and The Weeknd.
Diplo’s production digital audio workstation of choice is Ableton Live. He uses a pair of Adam S3A studio monitors as well as a pair of Focal SM9 studio monitors. Other hardware he uses includes an Apogee Quartet audio interface, an M-Audio Keystation 61es keyboard, and an Avalon VT-747SP compressor among others.
On the software plugin side, he uses a lot of Native Instruments products such as Komplete, Battery and Massive as well as other popular plugins such as Sylenth1 and Xfer Serum. Effects plugins such as Sausage Fattener, Izotope Ozone 6, the FabFilter bundle and Waves bundle are also part of his production arsenal.
