Don Pepijn Schipper, commonly known as Don Diablo is a record producer, DJ, and songwriter from Coevorden, Netherlands. He was born on February 27, 1980. He produces music in a wide variety of genres including electro house, future house, progressive house, dubstep, drum n bass, trap, future bass and bass house.
He signed his first deal at the age of 15. He played music in various places, and in the year 2002, he was resident DJ at Ministry of Sound in London. In 2010 Don Diablo released an album, titled 2 Faced in 2010 through the ID&T record label.
In 2005, he established his own events brand called Sellout Sessions. That year he released the first compilation album, titled Sellout Session 01 via the label. Sellout Sessions 02 and Sellout Sessions 03 came out in 2008 and 2009 respectively.
Another studio album Life is a Festival was released in 2008, and it managed to hit the number 37 position in the Netherlands.
Don Diablo went on to release a large number of singles in and remixes afterward. On February 9, 2018, he released a studio album titled Future. The project consisted of mainly future house and heaven trap. It managed to chart in Belgium, the Netherlands, New Zealand and in the USA.
As of June 2018, Don Diablo has released three studio albums, six compilation albums, and two remix albums. He has worked on more than 65 remixes and 70 singles.
He has been nominated for and won various awards such as TMF Awards, 3FM Awards, EMPO Awards as well as WDM Radio Awards.
Don Diablo owns a record label called HEXAGON, through which he releases some of his music. He has performed in various countries globally including Japan, the US, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Israel and the UK. He has collaborated with artists such as Kelis, Diplo, Dragonette, Sidney Samson and Alex Clare.
Some of Don Diablo’s soft synths include the Spectrasonics Omnisphere, Sylenth1, Massive, Xfer Serum, Korg M1 and Sonic Academy Nicky Romero Kick drum synthesizer.
His software effects include a copy of FabFilter Pro-Q as well as Nicky Romero Kickstart sidechain compression plugin.
A set of Yamaha HS80M, as well as a pair of Mackie HR824 studio monitors, have been spotted in his studio.
A copy of Pro Tools is part of Diablo’s production setup as is a copy of Steinberg Cubase.
He has a large number of hardware synthesizers and MIDI keyboard controllers including a Moog Little Phatty Stage II, Korg R3 vocoder keyboard, Korg M50 61-key workstation and a Korg SV-1 stage vintage piano.
Don Diablo’s setup runs on the Apple ecosystem. He has a MacBook Pro as his centerpiece to host his DAW and various music production tools.
