Tiesto’s name is synonymous with trance music. He hails from the Netherlands where he founded his record label Black Hole Records in 1997 with Arny Bink. Other than trance music he produces multiple variations of house. He has been active in the music industry since 1994 and has released 6 studio albums, more than 30 DJ mixes, 6 compilation albums, more than 40 singles and more than 120 remixes.
His accolades, awards, titles, and achievements are too many to list but of note is the fact that he has won 1 Grammy Award for his 2015 remix of John Legend’s song All of Me. He has been featured in the DJMag Top 100 DJs list since 2000 where he debuted at number 24 before climbing up to number 6 in the following year. Since 2002 he has consistently been in the top 5 of that list and was awarded the title of “The Best DJ of All Time” by both Mixmag and DJMag in 2011 and 2013 respectively.
Tiesto is one of the most successful dance music DJs of all time. He has headlined and performed at countless dance music festivals including Global Citizen Festival, Airbeat One festival, Tomorrowland, Electric Daisy Carnival and many others.
On the DAW side, Tiesto is known to use Apple Logic Pro, Steinberg Cubase and Ableton Live. He uses a variety of instrument and effects plugins including reFX Nexus 2, FabFilter Saturn, Illformed Glitch 2, Lennar Digital Sylenth1, Antares Auto-Tune Evo, KV331 Audio SynthMaster, Sugar Bytes WOW, Dada Life Sausage Fattener and Camel Audio CamelCrusher to name a few.
He’s known to use Yamaha HS80M as well as Genelec 8040A studio monitor speakers. The classic Roland Juno-60 and Moog Prodigy synthesizers have also been used in some of his productions.
During his DJ sets Tiesto has been known to use a Pioneer CDJ-1000, a Pioneer CDJ-2000 Nexus, a Denon DH SC5000 Prime as well as a variety of headphones such as AKG K67 Tiesto headphones, V-Moda Crossfade M-100, Beats by Dre Pro and Stanton DJ Pro-2000 headphones.
